I just counted - five. I wonder if it's the shortest five syllable word. I believe the longest one syllable word is strengths...or maybe that's the longest word with only one vowel.
* The name of this blog was taken from a case I read in first year Torts, Mulloy v. Hop Sang. In it a doctor had cut off the hand of a "Chinaman" without informing the patient. The judge awarded $50 since the Chinaman, while Chinese, was of average intelligence, and therefore would have understood the doctor's diagnosis.

Any song that features the word "inevitably" is gonna getcha, getcha, and never let go.
So. Many. Syllables.

Screeched, scrunched,. and scratched are also mono-syllabic words with 9 letters. But strengths is the only one with the solo vowel.
All these words start with S. Is the universe trying to tell me something?
